What StuartLocal stores
Necessary session and consent cookies protect sign-in, remember privacy choices, and support requested account features. Member accounts store the email, display name, password hash, saved items, reviews, private messages, notification choices, legal acknowledgements, and security history needed to provide the service. Problem reports and correction requests enter the protected owner inbox.
Optional storage
Analytics and advertising measurement remain off unless you choose them. StuartLocal’s built-in analytics stores daily aggregate action counts without an IP address, device fingerprint, exact search phrase, or visitor identity. You can reopen Cookie Settings from the site footer and withdraw permission. Contextual sponsored placements may still appear without building an advertising profile.
How information is used
Account information supports sign-in, saved items, reviews, password help, private support, optional reply notices, safety, and service administration. StuartLocal never publishes a visitor’s starting location. Address searches use OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service and the lookup result may remain in StuartLocal’s protected cache for up to 30 days. Driving plans use OpenStreetMap’s OSRM service and route geometry may remain in the protected cache for up to seven days. Opening a route in Google Maps sends its locations to Google. Transactional email, including password-reset links, is queued securely and sent through StuartLocal’s configured hosting mail service; delivery can still be delayed or filtered by a recipient’s provider.
Retention and protection
Access is limited by role, passwords are stored as one-way hashes, optional administrator authenticator secrets are encrypted, recovery codes are hashed, and administrator actions are logged. The owner console documents retention periods for aggregate usage, resolved messages, and security audit records. Destructive cleanup is not automatic and should follow a verified backup and legal review. Records are retained only as long as reasonably needed for service, security, dispute, backup, and legal purposes. No internet service can promise absolute security.
Your requests
Members can download their account data from My Account. You may request access, correction, export, or deletion of eligible information by contacting the StuartLocal administrator. Some security, backup, dispute, or transaction records may need to be retained where permitted or required.
Children’s privacy and 18+ accounts
StuartLocal’s public local-information pages are written for a general audience, and family and kids content is provided for adults planning outings. Accounts and member features are strictly limited to people who are at least 18 years old. No one under 18 may create or use an account, submit a review or private message, claim a business, or otherwise provide personal information through member features. Parent or guardian permission does not make a person under 18 eligible—there are no exceptions. Registration requires an 18-or-older certification; StuartLocal records the certification and policy version, not a birth date. If you believe someone under 18 provided personal information through an account or member feature, contact the StuartLocal administrator so StuartLocal can review the report and delete eligible information.
External services
Links to businesses, event organizers, employers, map providers, and other third parties lead to services StuartLocal does not control. Their privacy practices apply once you visit or interact with them. Review a third party’s notice before sending it personal or payment information.
